Young began his career in the music industry. In 1993, Young created the brand of Triple Threat Management where he discovered the now Grammy Award winning songwriter, Johntá Austin. Johntá is well known for his melodies and lyrics that have given new life to the careers of Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige and the late great Aaliyah just to name a few.
Young also served as the General Manager at the now defunct All Net Records (formerly owned by NBA star Tyrone Hill of the Philadelphia 76ers). During his time in the music industry he also discovered such hitmakers as Garrett Hamler, better known as Sean Garrett. Sean has produced more than fifteen number one singles in only seven years of producing music.
In 2017 Young co-founded BYSB Talent. The agency went on to boast a handful of series regulars, many heavy recurring guest stars, guest stars and co-stars. In 2020, with the need to refresh their brand, Tayvon Smith and Young have created a new entity with the name of Smith Young Talent Agency. They continue to represent nearly ten series regulars, many guest stars and co-stars.
